PLATF9RM began three years ago as Brighton’s most beautiful shared workspace for businesses and freelancers. It’s membership has since exploded, with numbers currently edging towards 800 – and its competition has ramped up, too. It’s now spread across two stunning locations in Brighton and Hove, and hosts an incredible lineup of events each month, both for its members and the wider community. Its meeting and events spaces are available for public hire, and it has recently opened its own café-bar at its Hove site. In essence, PLATF9RM is so much more than a co-working space. It’s a fast-paced, thriving community hub in Brighton and Hove.

Following a large-scale visual rebrand which included the architectural and interior design of its latest space at Hove Town Hall, PLATF9RM approached me to bring it to life in words. Early conversations with the team highlighted that the brand voice needed to be elevated in line with its new look and feel, so I created an accessible set of tone of voice guidelines to be used by the whole team and a brand new manifesto (yet to be launched – watch this space!) to inform the direction of the brand going forward.

I’m pleased to say that our relationship blossomed. I now oversee PLATF9RM’s branded content and produce monthly articles covering everything from antidotes to bad news to environmental responsibility for the company blog. I’m so proud to call myself part of a team that is making work wonderful in Brighton.
